Maria Jose was born and raised around fashion. Being involved in this industry for a long time this has provided her with extensive knowledge of techniques and an eye for the best materials and skilled artisans.

In her early career, Maria Jose worked in design and production for Spanish fashion companies such as Pura Lopez and Zara where she held senior international product management positions for 12 years. She is recognized and admired for her passionate, loving and persistent personality at work.

In 2005, Maria Jose decided to take a new direction with her career. She walked away from the corporate life, and chose to settle in the iconic Island of Ibiza. She initially collaborated in shooting productions with the internationally recognized photographers Mario Testino and Peter Lindbergh. Inspired by the vibes of the mystical Mediterranean island, Maria created her first Resort Collection followed by the opening of a few successful shops, one of them was in the well-known Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel.

In search of spiritual growth and quality of life, Maria then decided to move to Bali. The Island of Gods and Demons is now home to her creativity and production. In 2013, she set up LUZ DE IBIZA a high-end sequined fashion brand. Each garment is 100% handmade by skillful local artisans and the process takes between 2 to 6 weeks of detailed work to produce.

Luz De Ibiza supports local communities, contributing economically to the lives of more than 100 families. Besides creating job opportunities, Luz De Ibiza wants to assure that the art of sewing and craftsmanship survives in the fashion industry.

Her brand targets fashion-conscious customers all around the world looking for unique styles. Each piece of garment she designs blends beautifully sophistication and glamour.
